No small print.
Locately is pre-launch, and you are being asked to pay ahead of it. So here is the whole arrangement in plain English: what each plan includes, what a lifetime seat does and does not cover, how to get your money back, and what actually exists today.
Refunds
Full refund on request, any time before the beta opens. No reason needed, no time limit within that window. You are paying ahead of a product that does not exist yet, and you should be able to change your mind while that is still true.
The window is tied to the beta opening rather than to a date, which means a delay on our side can only ever extend your right to a refund, never expire it. “The beta opens” means you can log in, add items and search them. Stated plainly because that moment is when this window closes, and a milestone left vague is one that gets argued about at exactly the wrong time.
Reply to your receipt email or write to [email protected] and we will process it. Refunds go back to the original card through Stripe, only ever to that card, never as cash or credit elsewhere, usually within 5–10 business days depending on your bank. A refunded seat returns to the pool and the account it was attached to closes with it.
If you are in the EU or UK you also have a statutory 14-day right to cancel a distance purchase. Our window is longer and unconditional, so in practice it replaces that right rather than limiting it, but the statutory one stands regardless of anything written here.
After the beta opens, refunds are handled case by case. Email us and we will be reasonable about it.
What you get
These are the real prices. They are read from our live billing records at page load, so the number here is the number Stripe charges. Nothing on this page is a placeholder or a launch estimate.
- Unlimited items & locations
- Print QR labels
- 2 users
- Photo attachments
- AI photo auto-labeling (100 scans/mo)
- CSV / PDF export
- Offline mode
Everything in Plus, forever.
- Never billed again, whatever Plus costs later
- Improvements to those features included
- Refundable in full until the beta opens
- Sold only to the founding cohort, then never again
The arithmetic: a lifetime seat costs about what 20 months of Plus costs, and then costs nothing ever again. If you use Locately for two years it has already paid for itself. If you use it for ten, it is not close.
Free has no item cap and never expires. Plus is billed monthly once the beta opens. Lifetime Plus is the same Plus, bought once, and is only sold during the founding cohort.
What “lifetime” covers
A lifetime seat gives you Plus, the features listed above as they stand when the beta opens, for as long as Locately runs, with no further charge. Improvements to those features are included.
It is not a claim on everything we ever build. Optional paid add-ons planned after launch (integrations, low-stock alerts, check-in/out) and any future team or multi-user tier are priced separately. If we ever move a feature that was part of Plus at launch into a paid add-on, your seat keeps it.
One seat covers one account. Lifetime does not mean unlimited users on that account. Plus includes the user count shown in its feature list.
Seats
The founding cohort is capped at 100 seats, and 100 are left as this page loaded. The cap is checked again at the moment of payment: if the last seat goes while you are mid-checkout, the payment is refused rather than taken.
One seat per email address. If you try to buy a second seat with the same address, checkout will stop you and point you at your existing receipt.
Seats are not transferable. A seat belongs to the address that bought it. It cannot be resold, gifted or signed over, and we will not move one between people. Changing your own email address is not a transfer and is always fine; just ask us. This is not fine print for its own sake: a founding cohort that can be traded is not a founding cohort, and a resale market is the fastest way for someone to get scammed with our name on it.
When the cohort is gone it is gone. We are not planning a second round at the same price, because the price only makes sense as compensation for buying something unfinished.
Where it stands today
Nothing you can log into. Locately is in development: the search demo on the home page is a real working preview of the interface, not a screenshot, but the app itself is not open yet. A lifetime seat is a bet on it shipping, at a price that only exists because it is a bet.
We are aiming to open the beta in November 2026. Treat that as a target we are working to, not a contractual date, and note that the refund window above runs until the beta actually opens, so a slip costs you nothing but patience.
If we do not ship, you get your money back. Waitlist signups are never charged anything, and we send one email when the beta opens rather than a sequence.

Who's building this
Locately is built and sold by Dilina G., an engineer who built Locately to keep track of a workshop full of hobby projects and a family Etsy shop, after a decade building software that has to work outside a demo. Based in Toronto, Canada, working as an individual rather than through a company, which is worth knowing when you are paying ahead of a launch.

Privacy
We hold your email address, and your answers to the short survey if you filled it in. That is the entire list. Payment goes through Stripe, which means card details never touch our systems. We can see that you paid, not what you paid with.
Three companies handle any of it on our behalf:
- Stripe: takes the payment and holds the card details, and we never see them
- Supabase: stores your email address and survey answers
- Resend: sends the receipt and the one launch email
We will not sell or rent your email address, and there is no advertising or analytics profile being built from it. You get one email when the beta opens, plus your receipt if you bought a seat.
Ask us at [email protected] for a copy of what we hold about you, or for it to be deleted, and we will do it, including if you are outside the EU or UK, where the right is not automatic. Deleting a purchaser record does not undo the purchase; Stripe keeps its own transaction record because tax law requires it to.
Changes to this page
We may update this page as the product gets built: new features, a new plan, a clearer explanation. What we will not do is change the terms of a seat you have already bought: whatever this page said on the day you paid is what your seat is worth, and the refund window is not something we can shorten retroactively.
